14 Bingawan villages declared ‘drug free’

ILOILO City – A total of 14 barangaysfrom Bingawan, Iloilo were declared free from illegal drugs yesterday, thePhilippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Western Visayas (PDEA-6) said.  Bingawan Mayor Mark Palabrica led thepresentation of the barangays to ROC chair Alex Tablate of PDEA-6 withrepresentatives from the regional offices of the Philippine National Police,Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Department of Health.(With a report from DILG-6/PN) The PDEA-6 said the town is also firmand dedicated in sustaining their drug-cleared status and challenged itsbarangay officials to continue their efforts in the anti-drug campaign, addingthat the establishment of its “Balay Silangan” facility was part of thepost-operation phase to preserve and maintain their status. Bingawan is one of the firstmunicipalities in the province to have all of its barangays cleared fromillegal drugs, having complied with all of the parameters by February lastyear, it added.last_img
