For the unrehearsed gig, Young was joined by Ralph Molina, Nils Lofgren (E Street Band), and Billy Talbot, the latter of whom returned to perform with the group for the first time since having a stroke in 2014. As Young previously noted regarding unrehearsed run, the shows “will be the beginning of another beautiful chapter” in the band’s half-century of music making. The band opened up with a take on “Big Time”, a number off 1996’s Broken Arrow that hasn’t been performed live since 2001. From there, the group moved into renditions of “Country Home”, off 1990’s Ragged Glory; “Don’t Cry No Tears”, the first older Neil Young tune, which was first released on 1975’s Zuma; and “Winterlong”, another older tune that Young and Crazy Horse have been playing since their early tours in the 70s. After “World On A String”, the band moved into another bust-out, “Scattered (Let’s Think About Livin’)”, marking the first time the song had been played live in more than two decades, with its last time played falling in 1996.“Big Time”[Video: SSTLSD]“World On A String” & “Scattered”[Video: Ruby Inthedust]“Fuckin’ Up”, off Young’s sixth album with Crazy Horse, 1990’s Ragged Glory, followed the “Scattered” bust-out, followed by renditions of “Too Far Gone” and “Only Love Can Break Your Heart”, the latter being another cover of Young’s solo material. As the show accelerated to a close, the group offered up two fan favorites, “Cinnamon Girl” and “Cortez the Killer”, before the show’s ending run of “Walk On”, “Like A Hurricane”, and “Mansion On The Hill”. Returning for their encore, the group offered up another solo Young tune, “Roll Another Number” off 1975’s Tonight’s The Night before capping off the show in full with the traditional tune, “Greensleeves”.“Only Love Can Break Your Heart”[Video: SSTLSD]“Cinnamon Girl”[Video: Ruby Inthedust]“Cortez The Killer”[Video: Ruby Inthedust]Neil Young and Crazy Horse return to the Warnors Theatre tonight and Thursday before capping off their announced joint tour dates with a two-night run at Bakersfield, California’s Fox Theater.Setlist: Neil Young & Crazy Horse | Warnors Theatre | Fresno, CA | 5/1/2018Set: Big Time (first time live since 2001), Country Home, Don’t Cry No Tears, Winterlong, World on a String, Scattered (Let’s Think About Livin’) (first time live since 1996), Fuckin’ Up, Too Far Gone, Only Love Can Break Your Heart, Cinnamon Girl, Cortez the Killer, Walk On, Like a Hurricane, Mansion on the HillEncore: Roll Another Number (For the Road), Greensleeves ([traditional] song)last_img
