Free.Get all the latest Pasadena news, more than 10 fresh stories daily, 7 days a week at 7 a.m. Teacher Appreciation Week has passed, but the Pasadena City College Child Development Center is providing an opportunity for the public to say thank you to a CDC instructor and help raise funds for the center.The CDC recently announced its participation in “Target Thanks a Billion,” a nationwide promotion launched by Target to help reach the retail giant’s long-term goal of donating $1 billion by the end of 2015 to support education.Target will donate $25 for every “thank you” message it receives for one of the CDC’s instructors. Partnering schools are eligible to recieve up to $25,000 in donations through the “Target Thanks a Billion” campaign.“Not only does the promotion give a great ‘thank you’ for the teachers and staff, but the funds raised will help replace our trikes that are 19 years old,” said Nicki Harmon, CDC director. “Our greatest need besides the trikes is to supply each classroom with cameras to help with documentation as well as refurbishment of supplies and equipment.”To participate in the promotion, follow these steps:1. Go to www.target.com/thanksabillion2. Log in with your Facebook account (Facebook account required)3. Search 91106 – two miles4. Select Pasadena City Child Dev Ctr5. Write a message to a teacher at the CDC and submit.Only one donation per Facebook account is allowed, but participants can write multiple messages to the instructors. The promotion ends on June 15 at 11:59 p.m. CT.The PCC CDC serves 130 families annually and provides teachers in training with a model education site that will guide their learning in quality care and early education.
