Richie Ricci’s champion horse Annie Power is the hot favourite in the big race at the Punchestown Festival. If she wins the €100,000 Mares Champion Hurdle, Richie will take home a big cheque and a horse sculpture by St Johnston artist Marina Hamilton. “It’s a great honour to have your work showcased at such a major event. It will be extra special if Annie Powers wins as she is an exceptional horse,” said Marina. The horse is trained by champion trainer Willie Mullins and will be ridden by top jockey Ruby Walsh who visited Marina’s stand at the festival this week.Ruby has already won five of Marina’s blue horse sculptures which were presented at the annual racing awards for ten years.“The sculpture for today’s race is of a horse lying down in a contemporary black and white glaze. The horse is quite elegant and stylised which reflects the fact that’s this is a mares race. The race is due off at 3.50pm and is live on RTE TV.Annie Power is the odds on favourite and if she wins it will be her 12th win in 13 races and it will bring her earnings to almost half a million euro. DONEGAL ARTIST BOOKS HER PLACE IN WINNER’S ENCLOSURE! was last modified: May 2nd, 2015 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:donegalMarina HamiltonPunchestownRuby WalshSt Johnstonlast_img read more
